Subject: Kanalog Led

Hi Tom,  I noticed on the Kanalog there is an led on the board that is marked GND it is next to jp12 and jp15

can you tell me what it is for, and is it to be on or off .

Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

The GND label actually refers to the GND Lug Hole.  The Single LED on Kanalog is labeled D7.  It comes on after Kanalog has been initialized and enabled.   There is a charge pump circuit on Kanalog that KFLOP needs to service that verifies communication between KFLOP and Kanalog.  Once the charge pump circuit is active the +/-15V generator on Kanalog, the Enable output, the SWE relay output, and the LED are tuned on.

Hi Tom. Yes that does help. Thank you. I just noticed it and wanted to be sure that I hadn't over looked something.
Have a Great Weekend!

Hi Tom.
By my mistake i short circuit the SWE FET output, and after that the D7 led on kanalog is off. Also i cant control the servo drives anymore, only the opto outputs and input are working.
The SWE output is not working anymore but all the other fet outputs are ok.
Why is not working the analog outputs? They are at a constand 0.57V

Hi

Sorry to hear that. The communication to Kanalog toggles a charge pump on Kanalog to Enable Kanalog (and the LED). The Enable signal enables the +/- 15V generator for the analog I/O and the SWE relay driver. It seems that circuitry is likely damaged.

What about the other SW FET Outputs?  Troubleshooting, repairing, testing these type of things is usually not worth the time, trouble, and skill required and is often not successful. But we can provide some part numbers if you wish to try yourself.

Yes please, i will try to repair it. The U12 is for sure damaged. At least the part that goes to SWE terminal.

Thanks a lot. I will try to troubleshoot the board next week. I will let you know what i find out. Could there be a problem with the 3V3 supply?

I managed to repair yesterday the kanalog. Both IC U12 and U18 where burned so i had to change them.
I suggest in a future kanalog redesign, to include on the pcb fuses on FET outputs.
By the way the NDS9956 is obsolete so i had to use the FDS6930B, which is more power full 5.5A.
